Will of Revd. William John Mansel

I recently discovered the Will of the Reverend William John Mansel, eldest son of Sir William Mansel, 10th Baronet. He attended Westminster School followed by University College, Oxford, before being appointed Rector of Hethe and later Ellesborough.

Unfortunately he died in 1823 when he was only 31 years old, and was succeeded to the title by his younger brother, John Bell Mansel.

His Will is quite interesting and shows the extent of his estate at the time of his death. I transcribed the document myself so there are some gaps in it, where I couldn’t decipher the handwriting. He left £500 to his wife Harriet, as well as all his plate, towels, linen, book, furniture, china, clothes and fire irons. his horses, carriages and farming implements were to be sold at public sale, the monies being invested and going to his wife and children.
