Born at 193 Ferndale Road, Swindon. Lived with parents and brother and sister in two bedroom house. They kept pigeons, rabbit and fowls (chickens at Christmas). In the garden was an outside toilet with no flush! Worked at the Great Western Railway Works. When War broke out he was called up to serve in the Royal Air Force. When he was demobilised after the War he went back to the GWR, then to Pressed Steel Works (now part of the Rover Group). He retired in about 1985. In Italy 1944 Italian Campaign
